Summer, our favourite time of year, when family fun goes hand in hand with adventure, stepping outside into the sunshine and getting your toes sandy is a given, and finding exciting ways to cool off and spending most of the day in your swimwear is the norm. You are quite simply spoiled for choice when it comes to outdoor activities to enjoy in our warmer months, but that’s not where the excitement stops.
The coming months welcome not only cooler weather, but also an astounding calendar of events coming up that will draw visitors to the Gold Coast in droves. Whether you are an outdoor enthusiast, enjoy music, entertainment, or cheering on others, here’s why you just can’t look past a Gold Coast holiday in 2020.
The very best outdoor activities you could ask for
Getting in or out on the water is a breeze when you are just a stone’s throw from the famous Gold Coast Broadwater. Try out jet ski tours, parasailing, boating, fishing, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, jump on a surf ski and go for a paddle. You can jump on a charter boat and enjoy a day of deep sea fishing, or opt for a sunset cruise.
You can also enjoy whale watching during the months of migration later in the year, or go swimming with dolphins or sharks at SeaWorld. The GC Aquapark is just a barrel of fun with a giant inflatable obstacle course tethered off the shoreline of the Broadwater Parklands for you to navigate your way through and try and beat the competition in getting to the finish line.
If water isn’t your cup of tea, head out to the Gold Coast hinterland regions and explore the bushwalking trails, waterfalls, treetop walks, lookouts, glow worm caves, or visit the Observatory in Springbrook to catch sight of the stars and planets up close.
Experiencing animal encounters with Australian and international wildlife has never been easier, with the famous Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary just a short drive away where you can cuddle a koala, feed wallabies, enjoy the animal shows and learn about these fascinating creatures, or go hunting for life sized dinosaurs and gruffalo along the trails.
There are also incredible opportunities to see wildlife at Dreamworld Corroboree, SeaWorld, Paradise Country, and David Fleay’s Wildlife Park. You might also catch sight of lorikeets to feed on balconies, and various other local wildlife in the National Parks and bushland surrounds. If you’re lucky you might see dolphins playing in the waves, or whales breaching off the coastline during the later months of the year.
